Marvin Orlando Long was born on May 7th, 1973 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Robert Butts Jr. and Catherine Long.
Marvin attended Knudsen High School in Detroit, Michigan and later received his G.E.D.
Marvin confessed his life to Christ at an early age under the leadership of the late Bishop Elton Allen Lawrence at East Grand Blvd Church of God in Christ. There He served for many years as an active member and choir director. Marvin loved to sing. He participated in many choirs over the years in different states and jurisdictions. Over the years he has sang with John P. Kee and the New Life Community Choir and also held a special relationship with the late Mattie Moss Clark.
Marvin was always helpful with others, be it assisting with a project, lending a listening ear, or a prayerful word. He was always crafty and worked well with his hands. He also loved gardening, cooking and baking-a trait he picked up from his late grandmother Luci B. Butts.
Marvin leaves to cherish his memories: his mother: Catherine Long, sisters: Kimberly Long, Sonya Butts-Crater (Keisha), Robert Butts III (Shirley), Luci Butts-Elason (Major), Shuntinique Butts- Brazil (Henry), Reginald Butts (Shanika), and Step Mom: Juanita Butts, and host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and loved ones.
