HIS LIFE AND LEGACY

Deon Cortez Frazier was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 29, 1996 to DeKea Kyles-

Richmond and Christopher Frazier. Deon did not come into this world alone; he was born

alongside his fraternal twin Dwjuan Montez Frazier. Deon attended Warren Woods Tower High

School, graduating in 2014. He continued his education at Macomb Community College and

later transferred to Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Deon was also a proud member of

the Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern MI, where he attended starting at the age of 6 until he

was a young adult under the guidance of his uncle Christopher “Campy” Kyles.

Deon played sports throughout his life. He excelled at all of them, but his real passion was

basketball. He played varsity basketball for two years at Warren Woods Tower high school,

leading the team in scoring his senior year and earning All County accolades. Deon

complemented his scoring ability with a gift for jumping out of the gym, which earned him his

own play call – “Weak Side” – a lob pass to him from the opposite side of the court that only

failed if it was a bad pass. After high school, Deon continued his basketball career at Macomb

Community College and Kalamazoo Valley Community College.

Deon lit up the world with his smile, and when he laughed, you couldn’t help but laugh too. His

goofy and playful nature brought him many friends and made him a joy to be around. When

Deon was born, he was known as “Little Daddy”, because he was the smaller of the twins. Born

with silky straight hair and a glowing smile, we knew early on that Deon would break a lot of

hearts and be loved by many. As an adult he was known as “D” or “Deezy” to those closest to

him.

Deon preferred the finer things in life. He always kept the latest shoes and high-end,

exclusive clothing. As a teen, he kept his eye on the most expensive items in the store, always

negotiating with his mother to purchase one expensive item over buying something more

sensible. As an adult, Deon stayed dressed in his favorite designer, often letting those around

him know “Y’all ain’t gon find these nowhere.” His friends always looked to him for advice

on what to wear and how to wear it.

The Frazier Boys! You never saw Deon without at least one of his brothers with him. They were

thick as thieves, and while blood made them brothers, his loyalty to them, and theirs to him,

made their bond unbreakable. Deon was a free spirit and lived life on his own terms. He loved

his family and always made sure to be at every family event or special occasion. His loyalty

extended beyond his family. Deon was also a devoted friend, the best you could have. He always

made sure to take care of those around him.

On May 28, 2023, God called him home to join his loved ones in Heaven. Deon will be

missed dearly. Gone too soon is an understatement. He leaves to celebrate his life and

cherish his memory his father, Christopher Frazier; mother, Dekea Kyles-Richmond; stepfather,

Matthew Richmond; grandmother, Shirley Richmond; his uncle, Christopher “Campy” Kyles.

…his family who preceded him in death: grandmother, Valerie Frazier; grandfather, Christopher

McClure; grandmother, Darlene Kyles; grandfather, Al Richmond; and uncle, Deshawn

“Tyreece” Kyles. Deon also leaves his brothers Christopher Frazier Jr., Dwjuan Frazier, Charles

Frazier, Corey Frazier, Devonte Snyder, and Matthew “Lil Matt” Richmond; cousins

Christopher “CJ” Kyles and Chole Kyles; and a host of cousins, great aunts and a great uncle,

friends, and brothers.
