Obituary

 

Michael Moses Chesternut was born February 7, 1951 to the late James and Catherine Chesternut.  He was the fifth child of ten children.  Michael departed this life on December 11, 2021 with his family by his side.   He was educated in the Detroit Public School System and soon after he entered into the workforce.

In the late 1960’s Michael met the love of his life Laverne Quick.  Later in life, in February 2002, they married and from this union two children were born, Levence and Michelle.  

​

Preceding him in death were his parents, James and Catherine, four sisters, Gloria, Shirley, Georgia and Iwilder and two brothers, Philip and Glara. Michael was a fun-loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and neighborhood legend.   He loved his family, music, dancing (he was often called “Disco Mike”) and talking trash.   Mike was affectionately known as “The Life Of The Party.”

Mike leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife Laverne; son, Levence (Syvette); daughter, Michelle (Marshall); god-daughter, Robyn; sisters, Vera, Carmen, Cerease (Michael), and Stacey (Ronald); brother,  Dwayne (Rachelle); grandchildren, London, Levence Michael,  Levence Devonte, Chevel, DeCari, Jayon, Cerriya and Jarius; nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
