Lucille Vernon, who we all know and come to love passed on September 5,2022,
resting in her home at the age of 66.
 

Lucille Hawkins was born on January 16, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan to the late john and Betty Hawkins. She was the second oldest of three children. Her brother, Dave Hawkins, preceded her in death. She was educated in Detroit Public Schools, where she attended Southeastern High School.

On February 4, 1975, Lucille married Hugh Vernon. From this union, Eric Vernon was conceived. She later had two additional children, Cortez and Taneshe Vernon. For many years, Lucille worked as a security officer.

 

She enjoyed going to work everyday to interact with her colleagues and serve the community. Lucille rededicated her life to Christ and was ecstatic about her baptism one week before she made her transition. Her
Pastor Daryl Singleton Sr. at Lifeguard Ministries Church stated she came to church every week. The last few months of her life, she wanted everyone to see the change in her and began to go by her middle name, Star.
 

Lucille loved to be around friends and family, laughing and wearing a smile on her face. Her favorite pastime was playing video games, painting, fishing, baking, crochet, sewing and watching movies. She was a loving and caring person, devoted mother and friend, always putting others first.' "To know her, was to love her."
 

Lucille leaves to cherish her loving memory, her sister, Sheila; three children, Eric (Shantray) and Taneshe (Daniel), and Cortez, who preceded her in death; four grandchildren, D'Aja, Cortez, Noah and Sky; three nephews, William, Montrice and Changamire; bestfriend/cousin, Kimberly Harris and a host of family and friends.
