Levon Walker was born April 18, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Willis (Walker) Rahaman and Ruth Gully Walker.
Levon attended Northwestern High School in Detroit, but sometime later acquired his GED to fulfill his academic requirements.
He worked at Grace Hospital for a short time in dual positions as a Janitor and in Food Services. Moving on, he established his own vending services business by attending the school for commission of the Blind, a business he ran for 20 years.
Levon had a strong passion for music. In his spare time he played keyboards and developed a studio in his home called “Back Porch Productions and Close Friends.” He was a pilar of the community; loved by many and known as “Grandpa.”
On November 27, 1975 he married the love of his life, Virgen Silva. She had a young daughter, Virgen and later adapted a son, Dwayne Brown of whom he called his own. This union lasted for 47 years only to end parting in death.
Levon is preceded in death by his parents Willis (Walker) Rahaman and Ruth Gully Walker Fluence, sister, Frankie Dixon, brother-n-law, William Earl Dixon, Donald Eugene Phillips, his son, Dwayne Brown, niece Yolanda Denise Walker, nephew, Dumeir S. Walker and niece Raychel McCoy.
Levon is survived by his loving wife, Virgen Walker; daughter, Virgen Webster; son-in-law, Lawrence Webster; two sisters, Joyce Mae Phillips and Arenita Walker; brother, Michael Sanders; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and loved ones.
