Horace Glenn McGuire was born on July 31, 1945, in Todd County, KY to Martha Lucille and Charles McGuire. The second of three children, he was preceded in death by his brother Charles (Vera) McGuire and survived by his loving sister Margaret (Charles) Galmon. He was a beloved brother, uncle, father, grandfather, and husband and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Horace was educated in Elkton, KY where he graduated from Todd County Training School. During his early life he developed a love for animals, music, and fishing.

Horace proudly served in the US Army, enlisting in September of 1963, and serving for 3 years. He traveled the world before moving to Detroit, MI. In Detroit, Horace made a new home where he thrived as a US Postal employee for years until he retired and devoted his love to his family.

We lost Horace Glenn McGuire on May 16, 2023. Horace is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandra; three loving children: Brian McGuire, Jason (Yatavia) McGuire, and Heather (Brian) Howard. Eight grandchildren: Sarai, Brian “BJ,” Brianna, Jason, Nicholas, Ashton, Christina, Brian Jr. and one great grandson, Jonah. Horace also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews that he loved like his own children.

Horace Glenn McGuire made an impact on everyone he met. Mr. Wonderful was his persona and how he made people feel. He loved to dance and socialize, always awaiting with a joke to make you smile. Horace loved to help people, he treated everyone with kindness no matter where they were on their journey. He offered advice with humor and without judgement. He leaves a legacy of love - unconditional love that we need to make sure endures. And if ever you miss him just remember “What type of bird flies backwards?” and see his smile, feel his love, and cherish those wonderful memories.
